About Dell

Dell is one of the world’s major technology companies, providing personal computers, workstations, servers, storage, networking, AI infrastructure and technology services.

Founded in 1984, Dell has evolved from a direct-to-consumer PC startup into a broad enterprise technology company serving individuals, businesses and governments.

From a Dorm Room to a Global Technology Company

Dell began in 1984, when 19-year-old Michael Dell founded PC’s Limited with US$1,000 while studying at the University of Texas.

His idea was to sell computers directly to customers, allowing the company to better understand their needs while simplifying distribution.

Dell expanded internationally from 1987, completed its initial public offering in 1988 and entered the Fortune 500 in 1992.

A major transformation followed in 2016, when Dell completed its acquisition of EMC and created the broader Dell Technologies organisation.

Beyond Personal Computers

PCs remain an important part of Dell, but the company today extends far beyond laptops and desktops.

Its Client Solutions Group (CSG) includes commercial and consumer computing products, while its Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) covers servers, networking and storage systems used in data centres and enterprise environments.

In fiscal 2026, CSG generated approximately US$51.0 billion in revenue, while ISG generated a record US$60.8 billion.

This balance between personal computing and enterprise infrastructure has become central to Dell’s modern identity.

Building Infrastructure for AI

Artificial intelligence is now one of Dell’s most important growth areas.

The Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA combines Dell compute, storage, networking, software and services with NVIDIA accelerated computing and AI technologies.

By May 2026, more than 5,000 customers were deploying the Dell AI Factory, as enterprises increasingly moved AI workloads from experimentation into production environments.

Dell is also expanding the platform for agentic AI through new PowerEdge servers, data platforms, workstations and infrastructure designed to run increasingly complex AI workloads.

Rapid Growth in AI Servers

Demand for AI infrastructure has significantly reshaped Dell’s business.

In fiscal 2026, Dell generated approximately US$24.7 billion in AI-optimised server revenue, up 166% from the previous year.

Growth accelerated further in Q2 fiscal 2027.

Dell reported:

  • US$16.4 billion in AI-optimised server revenue
  • US$60.9 billion in AI server orders
  • a record US$95 billion AI server backlog

Infrastructure Solutions Group revenue reached a record US$31.8 billion for the quarter.

These figures show how Dell has increasingly become an infrastructure provider for large-scale artificial intelligence.

PCs, Workstations and the XPS Identity

Dell continues to develop computing products for businesses, professionals, creators and consumers.

In 2026, the company reintroduced its XPS laptop identity with new XPS 14 and XPS 16 models while expanding its Alienware gaming portfolio and professional workstation range.

Its commercial computing business remains particularly significant.

In Q2 fiscal 2027, Dell’s commercial client revenue reached a record US$13.2 billion, while total Client Solutions Group revenue reached US$15.0 billion.

Dell’s PC heritage therefore remains an important part of the company even as enterprise AI becomes a larger growth driver.

Data, Storage and Enterprise Infrastructure

AI requires more than processing power.

Organisations also need storage, networking and data-management systems capable of preparing and delivering large volumes of information to AI models.

Dell’s infrastructure portfolio includes PowerEdge servers, PowerStore, PowerScale, ObjectScale and networking technologies, alongside its AI Data Platform.

In 2026, Dell expanded its AI Data Platform with NVIDIA to help organisations discover, organise and prepare enterprise data for generative and agentic AI applications.

This end-to-end approach allows Dell to participate across multiple layers of enterprise technology rather than focusing on servers alone.

Asia Pacific as a Strategic Technology Region

Dell has had operations across Asia for decades and today maintains a significant presence throughout Asia Pacific, Japan and Greater China.

Dell’s APJC organisation spans more than 40 markets, including India, Japan, Greater China, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and Southeast Asia.

Current Dell locations across the region include Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and Australia, while India hosts major Dell teams across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Chennai, Pune and Mumbai.

Singapore has also become an important regional centre for AI. In 2025, Dell opened its Asia Pacific & Japan AI Innovation Hub in Singapore to support AI development, customer enablement and regional innovation.

In India, Dell AI Factory infrastructure is also being used by NxtGen to develop a large-scale sovereign AI platform.

Record Business Growth

Dell Technologies generated record revenue of US$113.5 billion in fiscal 2026, representing 19% year-over-year growth.

Net income reached approximately US$5.9 billion, while cash flow from operations totalled US$11.2 billion.

Growth accelerated significantly during fiscal 2027.

For the second quarter ended July 31, 2026, Dell reported:

  • US$47.0 billion in revenue, up 58%
  • US$31.8 billion in Infrastructure Solutions Group revenue
  • US$15.0 billion in Client Solutions Group revenue
  • US$4.13 billion in net income

The results reflect strong demand for AI infrastructure alongside continued growth in commercial computing, servers, networking and storage.
