About GE Aerospace
GE Aerospace is a global aerospace technology company specialising in commercial aircraft engines, defense propulsion, aviation systems and aftermarket services.
Its technologies power aircraft around the world, while its extensive maintenance, repair and overhaul network supports airlines and defense customers throughout the operating life of their engines.
More Than a Century of Aviation Innovation

GE’s aerospace heritage dates to 1918, when engineer Sanford Moss demonstrated a turbosupercharger at Pikes Peak, helping aircraft engines maintain power at high altitude.
In 1942, GE built the I-A, America’s first jet engine, which powered the Bell XP-59A and helped launch the United States into the jet age.
GE later developed major propulsion technologies including the first high-bypass turbofan to enter service and generations of commercial and military jet engines.
Becoming an Independent GE Aerospace
The modern GE Aerospace officially launched as an independent public company on April 2, 2024, following the spin-off of GE Vernova.
The restructuring completed the separation of the former General Electric into three independent companies: GE HealthCare, GE Vernova and GE Aerospace.
GE Aerospace retained the historic GE ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange.
Powering Commercial Aviation

Commercial aircraft propulsion remains central to GE Aerospace.
Its engine portfolio includes technologies such as GEnx and GE9X, alongside the CFM56 and LEAP families developed through CFM International, the 50-50 joint company between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines.
The LEAP family powers the Airbus A320neo family, Boeing 737 MAX and COMAC C919. GE Aerospace states that LEAP delivers about a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency compared with the previous-generation CFM engine.
Services Behind the Engines
Aircraft engines can remain in service for decades, making maintenance and overhaul a major part of GE Aerospace’s business.
The company supports customers through engine inspections, spare parts, repairs and maintenance, repair and overhaul services.
In 2025, GE Aerospace’s Commercial Engines & Services segment generated approximately US$25.0 billion in services revenue, compared with US$8.3 billion from equipment.
This large service business allows GE Aerospace to maintain long-term relationships with airlines well beyond the original engine sale.
Defense and Military Propulsion
GE Aerospace is also a major supplier of military propulsion technology.
Its defense portfolio includes engines such as the F110, F404, F414, T700 and T901, powering fighter aircraft, helicopters and other military platforms.
The F110 has been delivered more than 3,800 times and has been selected by 18 nations, while the newer T901 is designed to provide the U.S. Army’s Apache and Black Hawk helicopters with greater power and improved fuel efficiency.
Developing the Next Generation of Flight
GE Aerospace continues to invest heavily in future propulsion technologies.
Through the CFM RISE programme, GE Aerospace and Safran are testing technologies including Open Fan architecture, compact engine cores, hybrid-electric systems and advanced materials.
RISE targets more than 20% better fuel efficiency compared with today’s commercial engines. It is currently a technology-development programme rather than a commercial engine product.
GE Aerospace also invests nearly US$3 billion annually in research and development, supporting next-generation commercial and defense technologies.
A Major Presence Across Asia Pacific
Asia Pacific has been part of GE Aerospace’s operations for more than 60 years.
Today, the company supports more than 110 customers across over 25 countries in the region, with more than 3,000 employees and nearly 4,000 GE Aerospace and CFM engines powering flights across Asia Pacific.
Its regional manufacturing and service network includes major facilities in Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Australia.
Singapore hosts GE Aerospace’s largest MRO facility globally, while Malaysia operates an important maintenance hub for CFM engines.
India is another important market, with more than 1,400 commercial engines in service and local partnerships supporting the manufacture of LEAP engine components.
Global Scale and Business Growth
GE Aerospace reported strong growth in 2025, including:
- US$45.9 billion in total revenue
- US$66.2 billion in total orders
- US$10.0 billion in GAAP profit
- approximately US$190 billion in backlog
Growth continued in the second quarter of 2026, when GE Aerospace reported:
- US$13.3 billion in revenue, up 21%
- US$16.5 billion in orders, up 17%
- US$2.8 billion in profit, up 17%
- US$3.3 billion in operating cash flow
The company also reported a 31% increase in total engine deliveries during the first half of 2026.
